Anan Wattana has guided visitors around northern Thailand for more than fifteen years, from day treks out of Chiang Mai to longer trips into Mae Hong Son and the national parks. He holds a professional guide licence issued under Thailand’s Tourism Authority framework, the qualification the country requires of anyone leading tours, and he has spent most of his working life explaining the difference between what looks fine to a visitor and what is actually safe or allowed here.
